A combined net worth of $320 million makes Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith one of the wealthiest couples in Hollywood. Their $42 million sprawling Californian abode is pretty fitting for that title. This nature-inspired mansion has made the perfect home for their brood - Will's son Trey, and their children Jaden and Willow.
1. The Mansion Built For Seven Years
The mansion is located in the star-studded neighborhood of Calabasas, which is also home to the Kardashians and Jenner family. The property was started in 2003, but it took seven years to complete the project, which both Will and Jada were heavily involved in. "Everything needed to be done by hand," Will says. "We wanted to feel the love and labor that went into every piece of this place."
2. The Calabasas Estate
Designed by Stephen Samuelson, the house has several impressive facilities, such as a meditation lounge and a recording studio. The grounds feature recreational amenities including a basketball court, a volleyball court, a tennis court, a large swimming pool, and a trampoline.
3. The House Has Its Own Zip Code
In total, the house spans 25,000 square feet and sits on an enormous 150 acres. That's right. If your house sits on this amount of land, it's natural that you would have your own zip code. The sprawling area offers the family ultimate privacy from the limelight.
4. The Exterior
The architect Stephen Samuelson says that the aesthetic of the home "is anchored in history and the various interpretations of adobe in Persian, Moroccan, Spanish, as well as Southwest American cultures."
5. The Entrance Hall
The home has a grand entrance, featuring a carved wooden door that was salvaged from a fort in Northern India. The hallway features a sweeping wrought iron staircase. Will Smith showed the staircase trimmed with garlands and fairy lights for their Christmas celebrations.
6. The Living Room
A large skylight floods the living room with natural illumination. The room is set up like a brunch spot while still remaining completely cozy and inviting. The spot could also be transformed into a space for a holiday dinner or a space for friends to come over for the night.
7. The Sitting Area
The sitting room looks like it’s bathed in a pool of sunshine. The sofa was custom made to fit in between two sets of towering columns. The rustic beams are complemented by natural wood furnishings and run throughout much of the house.
8. The Dining Room
The dining room offers a breathtaking view of a lake. The Smith family would dine at the handcrafted table with walnut chairs, placed over a beautiful rug. The glimmering chandelier hangs overhead, making the hall all the more glamorous.
9. The Kitchen
In keeping with the rest of the house's design scheme, Will and Jada's kitchen features reclaimed ceiling beams, cabinets from 19th-century Nuristani oak panels, and a huge island unit at the center for food preparation and extra dining space.
10. Workout From The Kitchen
Jada shared a glimpse of the kitchen from the other side when she completed a home workout on their wood floor.
11. Homeworking From The Kitchen
The kitchen is also the set for the family's own series "Red Table Talk." The Smith family members, together with Jada's mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, discuss issues from family life to mental health around a red table in the kitchen. Stars or friends of the family sometimes make appearances on the show.
12. The Master Suite
The design of the master suite is implemented throughout the room, from the lounge chairs and novelty drum stool, to the hand-knotted silk rug on the floor. The master room also features a bathroom that has an eye-opening shower constructed of pebbles. The master bathroom leads to a private balcony, where the couple like to spend their private time together whilst enjoying a sip of coffee.
13. The Dreamy Kids' Room
Having bedrooms like Willow and Jaden's is every kid's dream. Willow's room is a representation of a princess suite with a canopy of silk hanging from the roof, while Jaden relaxes in a rustic-inspired room with a chair from his debut movie Pursuit of Happiness in 2006 which he appeared in along with his dad.
14. The Meditation Room
The eagle-nest like lounge area offers a secure spot for the Smith family to kick back after a long day and meditate. A large furry cushion, cozy pillows, carefully arranged bookshelves, and a cat, all combined to make it a dreamy place, where you’d like to stay forever. Jada even has her own meditation room, which she likes very much.
15. The Gazebo
As for Will's favorite place on the property? The lake gazebo. "Answers come to me out there," he says.
16. The Recording Studio
With Willow and Jaden being interested in a music career, it is not surprising that Will and Jada would turn a room into a private studio. In fact, Willow recorded her insanely popular 2010 hit "Whip My Hair" in this exact room.
17. The Recreation Places
These two places are perfect for the family to spend time together. One is the terrace, a place that allows the family to hang out, while never leaving their home. The other cool place is the screening room. With those luxurious club chairs, plus a cushioned daybed suspended from the ceiling, one can stay here for a whole day.
18. The Pool
The free-form pool was designed by the estate’s landscape architect, Daniel Busbin.
19. Will’s Two-Story Motor Home
In addition to his mansions, Smith also owns a $2.5 million motor home nicknamed "The Heat." The motor home is mostly used when Will Smith is out filming. Will Smith resided here when he filmed Men In Black 3, Ali and The Pursuit of Happiness.
20. The Interior Of The Motor Home
The 1,200-square-foot mobile home rests on 22 wheels, features 14 TV screens, a grand bathroom, a complete kitchen, has $30,000 worth of leather, and $100,000 - $125,000 worth of technology. If you want to rent "The Heat" and live like Will Smith, it will only cost you $9,000 a week.
